About Us
Why Are We Here?
As technology and social media have taken over many of our lives, we have noticed that our compassion and genuine interest in the stories of others has diminished. People rarely sit around and share stories and experience. Rather, everything is now shared via social media with a few picture and little real interaction. This encourages us as a society to judge people by what they have, were they are, or how they look, rather than getting to know the real person and the story that led him or her to where they are today. At GET SOM3, we are starting a movement to bring humanity back to society. We firmly believe we each have a story that is more similar than we know. We want to encourage everyone to take a moment and connect with others to hear those stories and provide a hand-up when possible. We know the world could do better, if we put our own egos aside and chose to GET SOM3 Compassion, GET SOM3 Understanding and GET SOM3 Faith.
Our History
Our founders, spent many years working in the corporate environment and have experienced the effects of being "just another number." As they reflected upon society, they realized many of today's role models are individuals who seek fame and notoriety, often at the expense of others. This realization spawned the movement and desire to shift an individuals thoughts and ideals from "what can others do for me" to "what can I do to help others." The movement is looking to bring the world closer together by examining what we as humans have in common, versus focusing on what others have that make us different. Therefore, we wanted to encourage people to join us in the battle to spread humanity and "GET SOM3" understanding of what being a contributor to society means and the change it can spur!
